Rules for driving with snow chains in Europe
Austria
Use only when the road is covered with snow or ice. Use of snow chains may be required by signage.
Snow chains must be approved and respond to the Austrian approval V5117.
Croatia
Use of snow chains or snow tires are mandatory on icy roads and on roads covered by more than 5 cm of snow. In the regions of Lika Gorski Kotar must bring snow chains in the winter. It is recommended to bring winter equipment the 01:11 to 01:04.
Czech republic
Snow chains may only be used when the road is covered by a thick layer of snow.
A sign with white lettering on a blue background, "SNEHOVÉRETEZY" means the use of snow chains are recommended.
Denmark
Can be used on condition that they do not destroy the roads.
France
Use only when the road is covered with snow or ice on roads where snow chains are required by signage
Germany
Allowed when the road is snowy, max 50km / h.
Hungary
Allowed when the road is snowy, max 50 km / h
Italy
Permitted from 15 November to 15 March. Can be ordered by signage.
In Val d'Aosta should bring tire chains or the car must be equipped with winter tires 15.10- 15.04, depending on weather period may be extended
Liechtenstein
Depending on road and weather conditions, the use of snow chains on certain mountain stretches be posted notices so require.
Luxembourg
Allowed when the road is covered by a thick layer of snow.
Netherlands
It is not allowed to use snow chains.
Norway
Each driver must ensure that the car can drive in winter weather. There is an indirect requirement that the car must carry a set of snow chains when driving in winter weather.
Vehicles with a total weight of over 3500 kg, from 1 11 to the first Monday after the second day of Easter bring snow chains. Tractor / for carriage must bring at least 2½ few chains, two pairs of driving wheels and a ½ pair of front wheels. For trailers / semi-trailers must be allowed one pair fitted with the chain on each side.

Poland
Allowed when the road is covered with ice or snow.
Slovakia
Snow chains may only be used when the road is covered by a thick layer of snow. On some mountain roads, use of snow chains may be required by signage.
Slovenia
Permitted if circumstances so require. Carrying of winter equipment is mandatory in the period from 15.11 to 15.03
Spain
Can be ordered by signage.
It is recommended to bring snow chains for mountain driving in the winter.
Switzerland
Use of snow chains may be required by signage. Mandatory sign some sites will have an additional panel with the inscription "4 x 4 ausgenommen", which means that four-wheel drive vehicles are not covered by the injunction.
Sweden
Can be used on condition that they do not destroy roads
